How to Sit Still And Save The World

"What if our religion was each other,

If our practice was our life, if Prayer our words?

What if the temple was earth.

If forests were our church, if holy waters- the rivers, lakes and oceans.

What if meditation was our relationships,

If the teacher was life, if wisdom was self knowledge,

If love was the center of our being?"

- Ganga White.

Where do I begin? We live now in a world that seems surreal, yet is all too real for all of us.

Are there answers? Will it end? Will we come out of this okay? No one knows, and when someone knows, they’ll tell us.

For now it’s not about answering those questions, but about finding answers to how we can help ourselves and each other. Life on this planet will go on with us or without us. Lets decide to be a part of the Earth’s continuing history, in a compassionate, caring and collective way.

Today, our fast-paced chaotic lives have come almost to a standstill. Each of us in our homes with family or friends, secluded, alone. Except we are not alone.

We are all living this together.

That is the gift that we can choose to see. Through our seclusion and isolation we can stop, look closely, connect with our consciousness and set our egos aside, for a moment.

Many of you have suffered losses; loss of a job, loss of all income, loss of a friend or loved one, loss of feeling safe and loss of the world that you thought you knew and lived. It’s overwhelming and doesn’t make sense.

Don’t I know it.

Financially we have lost all income revenue and can hardly afford to feed the animals. As a family we have lost my daughter’s father, the man I lived with for 17 years, to this virus.

So how do I choose to go on and surpass this grief and worry?

As a mother, my instinct is to protect my children at any cost, and truly I am a bit of a tiger when it comes to my daughters and their safety, you don’t want to mess with me if I feel they need me. We all have this strong feeling of protectiveness towards our own, I propose we don’t contain that energy, we expand it. The will power to protect your children, your grandparents, your animals, your friends, let it pour outwards in compassion and love for our bigger family, humankind. Find ways to help a neighbor, an old person, a nurse. Some countries are calling for those who can sew to make masks. There are ways to help without putting your life in danger. A phone call, a message, a smile, delivering groceries, singing a song, applauding for doctors, using your talents to cheer people up.

Haven’t you all just wanted to not have to go to work and stay at home? Well, here we are and we can just do that. All those projects you never had time to do? Never had time to do yoga or exercise? What about that book you wanted to write. Or that hobby of painting, craftwork, or that bedroom that needed painting, or that delicious recipe you wanted to try? I am sure you all have a wish lists and to do lists, home projects you never had time for. So go ahead and do it, don’t just sit there and do nothing. Be active and creative, this is good for your mood and how you physically feel and your immune system.

Then when you have done all these things (some of you are already at this stage) and think, what now, I’ve done everything I could do in my house, so what next?

Now, allow yourself to just sit still, eyes closed.

This crisis is also the time to be non- active. You can finally sit down, close your eyes and breathe, and do Nothing. As humans are eyes are very important, we receive so much information through them important and useless information. Now is the time, we can close our eyes, and quieten all this information, allowing our minds a little space of peace and bring awareness to how and who we truly are.

What might initially feel like a self-focused action is how you grow your kindness, how you let gratitude nurture you and how you improve the effect you have on others.

We now have the time to sit down and get to know ourselves, to connect and really understand what our truth is. Its a golden opportunity. Not an easy one, I am not saying that, but it is worth the effort. As we begin to tap into our inner wisdom and truth, we can find a place of tranquility, of calm and find that positive energy we need in our daily lives. As we do this, our vibrational energy of positivity can begin to expand and shine outwards affecting those around us, our family and friends and connecting with others in the world. This is what happens through collective prayer and meditation. It creates a powerful energy that can transform. We all have this ability. Just sit, be quiet, be still and breathe. Breathe in the pranayama, the universal life force energy, breathe it in and breathe out all the negative energy, the toxins, the sadness, the grief and the anger, let it go, it no longer serves you.

Allow yourself to just Be, for a moment, for a second, right now, stop reading for a second. Breathe.

I do believe and hope with all my heart that we can over come this and with enough positive energy and creativity we can come towards a more sattvic/ harmonious world. Maybe not perfect yet, I fear we have a long way to go, but instead of baby steps, lets take a giant step towards a better world.

For myself; my actions are to garden and plant food for the animals and ourselves with our volunteers who are living with us here on the farm. To continue to give yoga and meditation to our little group of 6,  though still practicing social distancing. Connecting, sharing and creating positive energy. By creating guided meditations in audios and videos to uplift people and to give them something to do as they stay secluded in their homes. We are working on online courses in yoga and for certifications to be a yoga teacher, courses in yoga with horses, mindfulness meditation for the individual. I will write blogs with helpful tips, of things one can do; how to meditate, how to connect with healing energy, how to connect with our inner selves and this around the world, ideas of beneficial herbs and foods for the immune system. As a healer I will find ways to help heal others through Metaphysical energy healing, Reiki, and meditation. I have many things, tools, I want to share. All this, as long as I have Internet, I can do and share. I will try to offer ways to uplift peoples spirits and help them move forward. As move forward we must, but we must also learn why this has happened, what needs to change and how we should move forward, individually and collectively.

I write from my heart and I speak from my heart, to all of you, now is the time, as we no longer can be active in a stressful world, to be non active, to sit and connect with yourself, so that you too will have the tools to help yourself, your family, neighbors, community and the whole world. I believe this is each human’s duty and responsibility. So lets get to work and save this beautiful planet we live on. A place of abundance, a place of beauty, a place we all love.

Every Sunday I will discipline myself (yes I have to admit, being a little of a free spirit, I do tend to not be as disciplined as I should be, Yoga has given me tools to correct this, but its a work in progress, to say the least!) to sit down and write a post for our Blog. Its not that I don’t like writing, once I sit down, I actually love it and get very inspired. Its more, I just enjoy doing so many things, I can easily get diverted and lost in something else. I am an ongoing student of life and am fascinated by all its aspects. But I also need to practice Tapas, the Yogi Niyama for discipline!

You can practice Tapas too, discipline yourself to take a moment each day to sit down, close your eyes, be still, breathe and think positive thoughts.

Sending light and love to all Beings on this planet,

Namaste,

Terry.
